Improving Texture and Microstructure Homogeneity in High-Purity Ta Sheets by Warm Cross Rolling and Annealing

The evolution of texture and microstructure uniformity in high-purity tantalum (Ta) sheets during 135° warm cross rolling (WCR) was analyzed detail. X-ray diffraction suggested that relatively uniform ‘ideal’ deformation distribution across the thickness could be obtained from WCR, since more potential slip systems activated. Electron backscatter (EBSD) results indicated change strain path enhance dislocations mobility increase probability rearrangement annihilation. Thus, proportion low-angle grain boundaries significantly reduced, sub-grain or sub-grains were formed via WCR. calculation geometrically necessary dislocation density based on gradient model supports this result. analysis relative Schmid factor combined with contouring map inhomogeneous orientation-dependent subdivision effectively weakened, WCR sample. Upon annealing, fine size randomly oriented grains sample after completion recrystallization because stored energy distribution.
